MESSAGE from Vicenza and the Val di Susa:

Open letter to students, insecure, teachers, parents engaged in the defense of a common good: the school and university.
We have seen in the streets and squares of our cities. We cross your eyes and we have found our determination: that of who is not seeking a privilege but his own commitment today to defend himself and the future of many others.
We are women and people of Vicenza, in the Val di Susa and many other joined in the Pact of Mutual Aid mobilized on a permanent basis to defend our land and our water, our cities, our valleys and our future: that traits of new military bases, new high-speed lines, new landfills and incinerators new, sources sold off to the highest bidder or whatever little change: common goods stolen in the community, spaces of democracy erased.
In recent years we have learned to look around, to hear and question. We want to understand and learn, build and create. As we meet you at the meeting. As you seek to enhance our creativity and our diversity. As you defend common goods that governments would avoid: access to knowledge to give the profits of individuals, the territory to sell off the U.S. military or the Party of rod and cement, water for huge new profits for big multinationals . As you rely on force of reason and truth and practice methods of peaceful struggle.
In our mobilization we have known the use of distorted information and knowledge, we would like ignorant and uninformed to impose choices devastating to our knowledge. Defending access to knowledge and education, then it means the chance to defend every one of us to oppose and indignant in the face of the many daily charges against women and men who live our cities, our campaigns, our valleys and our mountains.
We have seen in the streets and squares of our cities and as a wave overwhelmed silence complacent and indifferent eyes. Your wave crosses our waves, the resources that they want to steal the school and the university would use them to devastating new large works unnecessary and harmful, defend the school from this latest attempt to scippo is your and our objective, Your resistance strengthens our resistance and vice versa. Our order to follow the same route: one that has as its goal the defense of common goods, participation and democracy.
The future is in our hands.

90th Anniversary of the First World Grand carnage
Movement, NO WAR No Comments »
Manufacturers of peace and other groups promoting a Presidio Turin in Piazza Vittorio corner Via Po during the "celebrations" for the anniversary of the First World Grand carnage.
Meeting Sunday Nov. 9 hours 9:30

90th Anniversary of the First World Grand carnage
Never again war!
The First World War to cost 650 thousand dead and a million maimed and wounded. A die were the children of peasants torn fields and their suffering and mandates to deal with the threat of execution squad behind.
While we remember the victims of every nationality of that "useless massacre", denouncing the attempt by Defense Minister Ignazio La Russa to recover the rhetoric about World War I, glorifying with a campaign in grand style, replete with TV spots, military parades and general rising in teaching in schools.
While:
• cut funds to schools and research
• wages, salaries and pensions continue to lose purchasing power,
• The industrial crisis, particularly in Turin, starts to become a serious problem for many factories in crisis, using the massive layoffs of el'espulsione precarious,
We spend millions of euros for these celebrations (3 million just for the concert Bocelli in Rome). In addition, the Italian military spending (ie the ordinary operation of the four armed forces, missions abroad and public funding to the military-industrial sector), in this period of crisis, amounted to record 23 billion and 352 million euros , Equal to 11% more than last year.
This is yet another signal of the ideological climate of restoration that is trying to impose in the country with the proposed authoritarian rule of one, not secular, and values like home and family, emptied of their original meaning and be instrumental to the logic of the market.
They want to celebrate the war at that time to better justify those today!
4 November - but not mourning feast!

UNITED FOR ANOTHER UNIVERSITY
WHAT FUTURE FOR THE UNIVERSITY AND RESEARCH IN ITALY?
V-INAUGURATION of the Academic Politecnico di Torino
One in which we live is called the knowledge society. Yet the training and research were in last place among the concerns of recent governments, regardless of their color. The University is suffering a chronic shortage of funding and also is the chronic shortage of funds for the right to study. However, the Law 133/08 can not be attributed only the now customary cutting of funding, but represents a genuine attempt at cultural revolution, an attempt to dismantle the system of public education that we can bring in a linear fashion to a comprehensive and general attack on all that is not private.
Attack, riding on popular discontent through a distorted version of the facts so what is public is not synonymous with efficient, is likely to succeed without great difficulty to dismantle what has been built through the years.
The current government puts the final attack on the public university system and the death of basic research.
Italy is the country that invests least of all (minus 37.7% compared to the average OECD). The universities with the money they receive from the state can hardly pay the salaries of its staff. More than 3,000 are precarious research needed to support and relaunch a search-and long-term and ensure the smooth conduct of university courses. The Art. 66 of Law 133/08 is blocking the replacement of faculty and reduces the total number (1 intake every 5 retirement), without an idea, a project, a specific plan on how to recruit. This is more cuts: 1441 billion euros coated in 5 years, the most important that the public university system, already under-funded, has ever suffered. From these critical conditions, the Art. 16 opens the door to privatization of public opinion. In fact it grants to universities (especially those "virtuous", which are included in a socio-economic richer), the opportunity to become private law foundations. That will change the legal nature of our university, state and no longer accessible to everyone.
The new status will change all structures of government: no more bodies democratically elected by professors, researchers, students and administrative staff, but you have governing bodies composed of those who fund universities: banking foundations, private and public institutions; There will be an external chairman and a managing director. So governing bodies that have nothing to do with teaching and research, but be careful only to profit and then looking for short-term, aimed at the market.
What are the consequences of such measures? The University of tomorrow will be many or few privileged? The social and economic conditions for students, families and therefore, represent an obstacle for access to higher education degrees?
The students of the Politecnico di Torino invite all citizens, teachers, intellectuals, artists and all
the world of culture to join and participate in the day, November 7, when the opening of the Academic of our university. A time for understanding and deepen the
that is happening in the world of knowledge and training in our country. A day to show united against the measures included in Law 133. Law passed in August, in a half-empty parliament and without any discussion.
To defend the university as a place of public research, creation and transmission of knowledge as a common good.
